Does collaboration change the orientation of research? A scientometric investigation |

A scientific article can be classified under one or more treatment areas, i.e. theoretical, experimental, mathematical, etc. In this paper we investigate whether there is a significant correlation between papers of a particular type with respect to the number and nature of collaboration. Single author, multiple author, inter and intra institutional papers in selected areas of Physics are investigated to empirically determine whether any categorisation is dependent on collaboration patter. Results and implications of this study with respect to collaboration is discussed.
