Area of Research:
Technological Change and Innovation .
Engaged in the studies on science and technology policies in India
and China during the past 15 years with a particular emphasis on technological
change and innovation process. He has been involved in several bilateral
international programme with institutions in China and the European Union.
A number of comparative studies on India and China have been carried out
in the above areas as indicated by the publication list. Major projects
executed include: A book on "Science Technology and Economic Development
in China" was published in 1987. Another book on "A comparative study on
the Status of Machine Building Industry in India and China”, carried under
India China bilateral Science and Technology Agreement-1989 was published
both in Chinese and in English in 1995. A recent joint report on "A Comparative
Study of Science and Technology Development Strategies in India and China"
carried in collaboration with Central South University of Technology, Changsha,
China, under CSIR, New Delhi - NSFC, China Agreement 1992, has been published
in 1999. Also involved in the EU-India Cross-cultural Innovation Network
project since 1999.
