Naresh Kumar Country: India Dr. Naresh Kumar is currently Head (Adviser), R&D Planning and concurrently Head, Human Resource Development Centre of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, India, which is the world's largest publicly funded industrial Research organization. Dr. Kumar specializes in over arching areas of R&D Planning and Management, Human Resource Development, Information Dissemination, Intellectual Property Protection, and Technology Transfer & Management. He is the current President, Society for Information Science, India, a position to which he has been chosen unanimously. Dr. Naresh Kumar has more than 40 publications to his credit in the areas of his specialization. At CSIR Hqrs., as Head, Research Planning, his responsibilities include in-depth planning and resource allocation for all the R&D projects to be taken up by its 37 constituent laboratories, monitoring and performance evaluation thereof. These laboratories work in all science domains ? aerospace to biology, energy, electronics, minerals to materials, information etc. In addition, as Head, HRD he has to plan and conduct skill upgradation, induction, orientation and refresher training programs for more than 10K employees, which include scientists, technical and administrative staff. For his contributions in technology transfer and implementation, he has been awarded the "CSIR Technology Prize in the area of Biological Sciences" and also "CSIR shield for Process Technology". He is a elected Fellow of the Society for Information Sciences and Life Member of Academy of Information Sciences. He was nominated by the Govt. of India to attend the WIPO Academy Session at Geneva in 2002 and also appointed by CSIR Governing Body to conceptualize, plan and thereafter set-up the Human Resource Development Centre of the CSIR. Dr. Naresh Kumar is a Member / Convenor / Chairman of numerous Government of India / CSIR and other State and Central Govt. Committees / Task Forces. He is M.Sc. (Hons. School), Ph.D. in Chemistry from Punjab University, Chandigarh. |
